We’d kinda been expecting one, but Nintendo has wasted no time in announcing the traditional September Direct. As revealed over on Nintendo’s Twitter account, we won’t have long to wait, with the Direct dropping tomorrow on 4 September.

It will air at 3pm Pacific Time, 6pm Eastern, 11pm in the UK. You can watch it here.

As for what we can expect to see, the announcement makes specific mention of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Pokémon Sword & Shield. Beyond that though, we’re just given a vague ‘2019’.

It’s a fairly safe bet that, if the leaked Switch case was legit, Overwatch should show up. Listings for Assassin’s Creed IV: Blag Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered also showed up on a Greek retailer website earlier today before being hastily taken down so they might make an appearance too.

There’s also been a lot of rumours about who’s going to be the next fighter announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with a mysterious SNK copyright appearing on Nintendo of Europe’s page (before also being removed).

Despite the announcement saying the Direct will be focused on 2019, we’d be surprised if we didn’t get a little bit of a glimpse at stuff slated for next year. It’s going to be a 40 minute presentation after all, and with only Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the radar for 2020 as it stands, we might just get sneak preview of what we’ll be playing beyond this year.

Honestly? We’ll be happy if Pikmin 4 finally gets a proper announcement. The thing’s been in development for ages! Plus with September being the first anniversary of Switch Online, those SNES games would be rather welcome too.
