Mario Maker Monday - 29 July 2019
By Phil Myth
We’ve got a trio of cleverly designed stages for you this week, including an excellent submission from you lovely people.
If you’re a Zelda fan (and who isn’t) you’ll definitely want to check out our featured Maker as they recreate some of the series’ most famous dungeons, but with a Super Mario twist, obviously. Paul Lloyd’s got another batch of applications for the On/Off switch too.
Lastly, don’t forget to keep you submissions coming using the form at the bottom of the page!
Nintendo Village Stage
Stage Name: Swingin’ & Shell Slingin’
Stage ID: VBS-HJ4-KBG
Created By Phil Myth aka @philmyth
Partially inspired by the kaizo level we gave you a couple of weeks ago, this one is all about accurate shell throws and swinging claws.
There’s a good mix of careful planning and reflexive platforming sections where you’re relying on your momentum to take you through.
Plus, you’ll have to master both mechanics if you want to overcome the boss fight at the end!
Stage Name: Goomba Invaders
Stage ID: PL3-817-3XF

Our very own Gary Gray has already highlighted this level over on his Flatcap Gamer YouTube channel and it’s unbelievably clever.
If you’ve ever wanted to play a Super Mario version of Space Invaders now’s your chance. Using the icicles as ammunition you’ve got to shoot Goombas - who follow the classic Space Invaders route courtesy of tracks - down before they get to the bottom and kill Mario.
So impressed with the ingenuity behind this one, you should definitely give it a whirl!
Stage Name: I’m Getting The Black Lung, Pop

A Mario Maker Monday submission from Walvin this week and it makes some excellent use of the 3D World style’s builder power up.
There are several puzzles you’ll have to solve as you make your way up through the ant’s nest, mining your way towards the boss fight at the end.
Another impressive submission that features some clever and unique creations in the puzzle department. Props for the Zoolander references too - thanks for sharing it with us Walvin!
Paul’s Pro Tips
Each week we’ll be featuring a ‘how to’ video from friend of the Village Paul Lloyd.
Paul’s got a few more clever implementations for the On/Off switch this week.
