The strong sales figures come on top of year-on-year growth.

Nintendo Switch may be well short of it’s third birthday, but sales are nevertheless marching onwards. Nintendo of Europe have today revealed that the system (along with its’ newer Lite counterpart) has shifted over 10 million units across the continent.

What’s even more encouraging though is that the pace at which the system is flying off shelves is still accelerating. Sales increased by 30% compared to this time last year, representing a 40% increase on figures at a similar period in 2017.

Along with the console’s success, Nintendo also revealed that 9 games have surpassed the 1 million sales mark too. The software in question consists of:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

  • Super Mario Odyssey

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

  • Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

  • Splatoon 2

  • Super Mario Party

  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

  • 1-2-Switch

There’s praise for some third party efforts too, with Minecraft, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Stardew Valley all surpassing half a million sales. Not bad going!

With the likes of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Pokémon Sword and Shield still to come this year - not to mention Animal Crossing New Horizons and Metroid Prime 4 further down the line - Switch is likely only going to continue its impressive run of form.
